Homegrown Artists Edmonton Sessions: Vol. III Britt’s Theme

Kusch3Music has been the avenue for how I met the majority of my closest friends. I am sure most of you can agree the same thing. I met one of the most amazing humans at Shambhala in 2012. Britt Geddie. Her energy was infectious, you could see her smile across the ranch. Britt was that person who you would instantly connect with, feeling like you had known each other for years. From dancing deep in forests of Shambhala, to the middle of the ocean on Holy Ship, Britt was always smiling, and loved music that got her booty movin!

This homegrown session is special as it is a tribute to Britt. Britt, an original High Kicks member passed away unexpectedly this past summer, leaving a massive hole in not only our friend circle, but in our scene. Kusch, an Edmonton based producer/dj and friend to High Kicks wanted to create a mix that would capture Britt in every aspect. With the help of Jules Corpuz they encapsulated the energy Britt always carried. This mix is fun, bouncy, and beautiful. Just like Britt. I can only imagine the emotions that were coming through when making this. On behalf of High Kicks & Face Licks we want to say thank you to Kusch and Jules for letting us remember Britt in the most positive way.

These Days – Rudimental feat Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen (GRiZ remix)

Alright friends. I have a question for you to ponder. Why do breakup songs have to be sad or angry??? Why cant one be fun and funky? Rudimental must have thought that and made that change with this track. These Days is just a great mindset to have following a break up. The original is amazing in itself but GRiZ just takes this to a whole other level. If you never heard this song before you wouldnt know its about a break up until you pay attention. Your first impulse is to just smile and dance.

Thats what GRiZ does. The master of funky and happy beats never fails. It is great hearing some new tracks from him, even if its a remix. He adds his signature funky bass and sprinkles that delicious sax in just the right places. Were hoping we dont have to wait too much longer for some fresh original tracks from the king of “future funk”.  Until then enjoy this!

Happy Monday music lovers! If you are feelin the Monday blues and need something to kick up the notch a bit look no further! Ganja White Night dropped his new album The origins and bass heads you will not be disappointed. I had a feeling this track would be a banger with the help of Dirt Monkey. Heavy filthy wub wub for your tummy! These two have some of the best sounds of dubstep lately.

I could go on and on and ramble all day about this. But who wants to hear that? So instead, enjoy this filthy track, and primal stomp in your apartment so loud you get a noise complaint!

Atlas – Lane 8

Lane 8.jpgWarning: It is about to get really happy in here. If you’re not wanting to smile and dance around with your friends laughing and hugging maybe skip this one. Lane 8 just dropped his new album Little by Little and it seriously takes you to such a happy place. Its the kind of album you want to listen to while laying in grass on a warm day, or dancing in the middle of the ocean. This track Atlas is a prime example of the escapism this album offers.

This song builds slow leading to a climax that leaves you with a big goofy smile on your face. I could keep talking about it but I can only say happy so many times. You have to experience it for yourself and then you will understand, So close your eyes, let go and enjoy this beautiful song.
