These Days – Rudimental feat Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen (GRiZ remix)

Alright friends. I have a question for you to ponder. Why do breakup songs have to be sad or angry??? Why cant one be fun and funky? Rudimental must have thought that and made that change with this track. These Days is just a great mindset to have following a break up. The original is amazing in itself but GRiZ just takes this to a whole other level. If you never heard this song before you wouldnt know its about a break up until you pay attention. Your first impulse is to just smile and dance.

Thats what GRiZ does. The master of funky and happy beats never fails. It is great hearing some new tracks from him, even if its a remix. He adds his signature funky bass and sprinkles that delicious sax in just the right places. Were hoping we dont have to wait too much longer for some fresh original tracks from the king of “future funk”.  Until then enjoy this!

Pretty Things- Defunk

Defunk has done it once again, getting us up off our booty’s and onto our stompers to get down and dirty to the dreamy drops and din he delivers with this new deadly track, Pretty Things. He starts off with a bangin’ blues vibe that is smooth and sexy yet grimy and groovy, and then smacks you right in the face with a first class future funk heavy bass line that hits you in all the right places and leaves you no choice other than to throw down harder than you thought imaginable.

In true Defunk style, this track is pushing the boundaries of bass music and how we view it. Keeping the heavy bass line while infusing elements like blues, funk and groove brings a new sound and shows Defunk is continuing to make unique, fresh and flavourful music. I can’t wait to see what else he releases throughout the year, but for now I’ll be throwin’ down with friends to this wicked new track!

Word to Spread feat. Tom Thum Remixes – The Funk Hunters & Chali 2na

Westwood Recordings killing it once again! These remixes are taken from their album coming out this summer called ‘ILLectric REMIXED’ that will bring together a diversity of  talented producers from around the world serving you the sexy sounds of Drum n’ Bass, House, Glitch, Hip Hop, Funk, and more.

My personal favourites are from the first two artists Maha Quest (Leo) and Smalltown DJ’s.  Maha Quest is a producer from  Bristol that has the funk and glitch hop vibe that Westwood Recordings love to spread. Smalltown DJ’s have been in my library for years and never disappoint. Whenever the fun bass -heavy house music from them hit my ears I can’t help but get up and dance.

Take a listen to these 6 different but equally awesome remixes and choose your favourite!
