Hot Jazz & Fire- Duke Skellington

O baby, he’s done it again, that swing and glitch combo that gets me in all the right places. From the old school sexy, suave swing sound to the heavy, head bangin’ glitchy bass goodness, this track will have you on the floor dancing in no time.

Duke Skellington, the man, legend and swing king. DJ and music producer in Future Swing, Swing House, Electro Swing, Swing, and Glitch. Duke not only produces music alone but is also apart of the group Alias “The Vaude Villainz”, which include DJ Skyler Gilmore and Professor Watson, that run an electro swing/ swing podcast called “Jitterbug Jukebox.” I am a huge fan of Duke Skellington, Jitterbug Jukebox and the electro swing world in general, if you haven’t already noticed. The fact that I can jam it with my Granny and Grandad dancing in the kitchen to a late night with my friends makes my heart so happy. If you are 6, 16, 65 or 85 you can’t help but enjoy he fusion of the infectious classic swing sound and the new age electro beat. It will put a smile on your face and get you up the dance floor before you even hear the first drop.  So whether your with a child, friend or grandparent, throw on this track, turn it up loud and cut some shapes!

Much Love!

Shadowbox Tour 2017- Beats Antique

Ladies and gentleman I have for you a unique, groovy, soulful pre made playlist for your listening pleasures. Beats Antique have created this collection of tracks they have collaborated with others on and music they have enjoyed over this past 2017 year. It is like no other playlist I have listened to. Zoe Jakes, David Satori, and Sidecar Tommy, this Oakland based group have made a genre of their own, forging a curious alliance between middle eastern traditions and potent west coast circus, underground hip hop, breakfast brass band, down tempo, glitch and dubstep.

If you are lucky enough to live in a city that this tour is coming to, first of all get your tickets, and second listen to this playlist as many times as you please to get amped up for the wicked soul filling experience you are about to be a part of. The first time I had the pleasure of being a part of a Beats Antique show I walked away feeling re charged and warm inside, exploding with all good vibes and so much love.

My favourite track off this playlist is Beats Antique- Let It All Go (feat. Preservation Hall Jazz Band). It’s crunchy, classy, and catchy with that swingy jazz vibe that is right up my alley.  Take a listen to this 31 tremendous track selection and choose your favourite!

Much Love

Home Is Where The Heart Beats- Vibe Street

O hey there Friday, I have been impatiently awaiting your arrival and those Friday feel good vibes you always seem to bring me. As I took a stroll on Soundcloud to find the perfect match to my mood I happened to turn onto Vibe Street and find just that. Sexy, spicy, sultry and the most smooth sound filled my ears and I couldn’t help but fall in love. The fusion of Electro-Glitchy-Hip Hop and Bluesy-Folk put the biggest smile on my face and I couldn’t help but get up and rock out.

Ben “Smiles” Davis is the  genius behind the fresh new flavour he has coined as “Grass-Hop/ Future- Folk”. Whether it’s an intimate show or a late night dance tent, Vibe Street is known to get the crowd feeling just right. Denver, CO is where he calls home, but with a sound so diverse he is gaining fans from across the world and from all different spectrums. Give him a follow and fill your soul with a refreshing dose of originality that you so desperately crave.

P.S. I couldn’t choose just one track, EP or Album so here is one of each!

2017 Shambhala Fractal Forest Mix – Slynk

All the way across the world from Brisbane AU, Evan ‘Slynk’ Chandler brings the funk to our beautiful country, now settling in the coastal city of Vancouver. From his huge stylin’ framed glasses, twisted snap back hats, and massive energy filled tunes it’s clear why this guy is to many ‘the funkiest DJ on the planet.’ Does he ever really settle though?! He’s constantly bouncing around spreading his sickness – that is, his turntable scratching, hip-swinging, smile inducing, love facilitating sickness that’s personally got me ill to the core! I need no antidote. Just give me more of that funky stuff!

Slynks roots begin with a drum kit and piano lessons, which quickly spun into turntables (pun intended) and playing sets across Australia. It wasn’t long until big names like Shambhala Music Festival caught wind of this groovy dude.

Shambhala holds a special place in my heart, for a multitude of reasons. I know that for Slynk, that special feeling resides in him too. Shambhala was his first ever music festival, as well as his first trip over seas. I guess the vibes over here in western Canada were just right. Taken on by Danio Management , Slynk will continue to grow and evolve. What a treat that this unreal artist is so close to home.

Below you’ll find his 2017 Fractal Forest mix, and a short interview giving us a more intimate introduction to Evan Chandler, his take on music, and how his career has progressed. This mix is seriously addicting and high energy. He throws down some glitch, drum & bass, breaks, house, and killer drops – all concocted into a nice big majestic funky potion of – get the fuck up and move your body! Take one sip and I promise the only cure you’ll find for the Slynk sickness, is more Slynk.

Buckle up and prepare to get funkified!

Enjoy this mix as much as I do. Much love!

Don’t care! – Wokezan

Wokezan, consisting of Dirk Phelps and Connor Wilson share some very similar interests in music taste as me. One thing I love about this blog is the artists that we are stumbling upon! These gents from Michigan create some sick guitar riffs and blend them with some heavy, yet groovy bass to please all of the cochlea in your ear.

Don’t care! beings with a hell of a riff which sets the tone on how in your face this track will be. It’s glitchy, heavy all this to make a bass head like myself happy.  They don’t let down for too long and really keep rhythm high. Give these guys a listen and you’ll be hooked just like I did!
